Women’s Ministry

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV)

Women’s Bible Study meets in the Cafe every Tuesday night at 6:15 p.m. We offer the opportunity to fellowship and enjoy an open salad bar. We then begin with a time of prayer and worship before beginning the teaching. At 7:30 p.m. we break into small groups discussion on the teaching and reviewing the homework from the prior lesson. We try to complete the small group time by 8:30 p.m., though some will linger for prayer or continued discussion.

We encourage every woman to come to a Bible Study even if they know they can’t possibly make every session. This is a great time to get to know each other and encourage and lift each other up.

Ladies Tea – A fellowship tea is held approximately three times a year on every second Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Typically, one of the ladies will volunteer to host the tea in her home. All women are invited and asked to bring something to share for the brunch. After prayer and fellowship, a guest who has previously agreed to do so, will give their testimony.

Ladies Retreat – An annual ladies retreat, generally held in the spring, is an event that allows the women to get away for a weekend of fellowship as they grow in the Lord, as well as an opportunity for the ladies to get to know each other and form stronger friendships. There is always need for some behind the scene volunteers and each year the Servant Leader will reach out for assistance in planning and working on the event.

“EWE” is the quarterly publication of the women’s newsletter and it can be viewed on the Calvary Chapel Jacksonville Web site (www.calvarychapeljax.com). It can also be received by email if desired. It includes a variety of articles, book reviews, devotions and highlighting events, “Because It’s All About EWE!” If volunteers have articles, book reviews or ideas, please contact the Servant Leader Christy Pintar or Tina Givens.

During the Christmas Holidays, the Women’s Ministry reaches out to the Nursing Home Ministry by making gifts for the nursing home residents. The projects are uncomplicated and we always have someone to walk us through whatever process is needed to make the gift.

One-to-One Discipleship – A nine week course where you meet one-on-one with a discipler to review and learn the basics of Christianity, the ‘why we do what we do and believe what we believe’. Even if you have been a Christian for many years, it is sometimes good to review foundational materials so we are all truly grounded and rooted in our faith and always prepared to give an answer for what we believe. This nine week course offers insight into topics like: How to Study Your Bible, Fellowship, Witnessing, the Holy Spirit, Prayer, and more.
